HortiCo isn’t just a business, we live and breathe horticulture. Since opening in Thornham in 2020, our Nursery and Garden Emporium has become a sanctuary for plant enthusiasts and those just discovering the joys of gardening.
HortiCo was founded by seasoned horticulturists Gary Nelson and Jez Scoles, who have between them, over 70 years of combined expertise in the industry. Gary was introduced to gardening by his grandfather, growing fruit and vegetables in the family orchard. He developed this love of horticulture into a career and taught the subject at Norfolk’s College of the Countryside for almost 20 years. Jez, inspired by his family ties to Norfolk’s rosegrowing heritage (his grandfather was a member of the Morse family of rose breeders), transformed a degree in Horticulture into a fulfilling career as a landscape designer and gardener.
Horticulture is more than just a job for us, it’s a lifelong passion for plants and gardens. We’re not just here to sell you plants – we’re here to help you make the most of your garden, however large or small and if we don’t know the answer to your questions, our team will take the time to find out for you.
We’ve designed our nursery in such a way as to allow you to walk through themed sections of herbaceous plants, shrubs, trees, shade tolerant plants, climbing plants and specimen courtyard plants. We have small planted areas to allow you to see a range of plants growing in situ and to showcase our range of pots and tubs we have examples of these planted throughout the centre.
Our commitment to quality is reflected in our high-grade, British-grown stock sourced predominantly from East Anglia, and we’re always on the lookout for unique suppliers and new garden treasures. From wind-tolerant coastal plants to drought-resistant gems, we curate a collection for every garden, big or small.
